Spring Into Queens: Music in the Garden

Jun 15, 2018

WOMEN’S RAGA MASSIVE

SUNDAY, AUGUST 12, 4 TO 5:30 PM

Women’s Raga Massive, an ensemble project of Brooklyn Raga Massive (hailed as “Leaders of the Raga Renaissance” by the New Yorker) uses Indian Classical music tradition as a feminist framework drawing on the diversity of New York City. They seek to create a platform for minority artists to engage in (primarily) musical conversations that are referential to Indian classical music and what it means to be a female artist in contemporary America as a whole.

Join them on Sunday, August 12th at Queens Botanical Garden for a series of improvised pieces, original works, and raga-inspired tributes to female heroes, embodying a collaborative and communal spirit.

Bonus: (Included with Garden admission)!

While the event is free, you must pay admission to the Garden, to be paid at the Garden entrance: Adults – $6, Seniors (age 62+) – $4, Students with ID – $4, Children (ages 4 to 12) – $2, Children (3 and under) – FREE, Members – FREE
